Study in South Korea from India: documents and D-2 visa
India → Korea: credential processing depends on the issuing board/university and e-Sanad availability. Visa submission depends on jurisdiction: Chennai/Delhi have their KVAC routes; Mumbai requires designated agencies from 1 October 2026. Check D-2 and D-4 language-study lists separately.

Authentication follows the document’s issuing country. Citizenship and residence can differ: use the checklist of your consular jurisdiction. Your university and specific intake determine the exact required records, translations and submission format.
Documents: local preparation
Prepare the last school’s marks sheet and passing certificate. This is Indian Embassy baseline guidance; the chosen Korean university’s admission guide determines the exact records, apostille requirements and copy format.
First check whether the issuing board/university and document are supported by e-Sanad’s digital repository. The portal specifies the digital route for CBSE records from 2014 onward and says physical copies of those records are not accepted for apostille.
If e-Sanad does not cover the document, follow MEA’s designated State/UT/RAC authentication route, then its authorized submission route for apostille. Do not impose one identical HRD process on every state and document.
An Indian passport does not turn an overseas qualification into an Indian-issued document. e-Sanad covers Indian-issued documents, including those held by foreign nationals. For another issuing country, check that country’s authentication and the receiving university’s rules.
D-2 student and D-4 language visas
Confirm your submission jurisdiction first. Chennai: complete the Visa Portal e-Form, print and submit through KVAC. Mumbai: from 1 October 2026 use a designated agency; consulate walk-ins are no longer accepted. These are jurisdiction-specific routes, not one rule for all India.
- bachelor’s degree · master’s degree · doctoral degree
D-2: Indian Embassy guidance lists admission, final education and funding evidence, with bank statements for self-funding. Check your mission’s current checklist for statement period, amount, sponsor records and exceptions; Pakistan’s six-month/two-week rule must not be copied to India.
For a long-term study visa, check the designated-clinic health/TB certificate requirement. Chennai exempts children under five and also accepts hospitals designated by Delhi/Mumbai. The rule was published in 2016; Mumbai’s hospital notice is from 2025, so recheck current clinic details before booking.
- master’s degree · doctoral degree · D-4 language study
Research applicants should prepare evidence of research activity, as listed in Indian guidance. Check D-4 language training separately in the Visa Navigator and with your submission centre: degree study, research and language training do not have one identical full checklist.
The reviewing authority may request further education, financial, family or identity evidence if the submitted information is insufficient. There is no fixed document count by citizenship here. Before submitting, open the complete current university and consular instructions.
Language, university and programme
Check TOPIK, IELTS or TOEFL against your teaching language and programme. University language requirements and consular language checks may differ. GKS is a separate scholarship competition with its own guide; it does not replace regular admission.
Choose citizenship when registering. It stays in your account and can later be changed in your profile. This reference page does not change your account.
