Kazakhstan: educational authentication and visa submission are separate checks. Almaty’s visa waiver does not remove a Korean university’s apostille requirement.

Authentication follows the document’s issuing country. Citizenship and residence can differ: use the checklist of your consular jurisdiction. Your university and specific intake determine the exact required records, translations and submission format.
Documents: local preparation
gov.kz distinguishes higher/postgraduate records from school/vocational records. Select the procedure by the document, not citizenship alone.
For an online application, attach a scan and sign with your digital signature; follow the notice to present the original and ID at the service centre.
The official guide allows fifteen working days for the apostilled education document; online processing notice is within five. Plan this separately from visa processing.
D-2 student and D-4 language visas
Almaty’s D-2/D-4 list waives apostille/notarisation for visa submission. Admission follows the selected university’s separate rules.
First establish whether your residence falls under Almaty or Astana. Almaty requires address evidence; its checklist is not automatically nationwide.
For long-stay visas, Almaty lists TB evidence valid for three months. Use medical facilities approved by your responsible mission.
Almaty lists walk-in submission and at least fourteen working days for processing. This is not a guarantee of issuance before your semester starts.
The reviewing authority may request further education, financial, family or identity evidence if the submitted information is insufficient. There is no fixed document count by citizenship here. Before submitting, open the complete current university and consular instructions.
Language, university and programme
Check TOPIK, IELTS or TOEFL against your teaching language and programme. University language requirements and consular language checks may differ. GKS is a separate scholarship competition with its own guide; it does not replace regular admission.
Choose citizenship when registering. It stays in your account and can later be changed in your profile. This reference page does not change your account.
